Claudia KY Lai

Claudia K.Y. Lai is an Honorary Professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and a Consultant (project-based) at the Hong Kong Adventist College. She has engaged in nursing education, research, and volunteer work across Hong Kong, Canada, the UK, India, Japan, and Cambodia.
She has two main research programs – the care of people with dementia and their families and the care of frail older adults. She focuses on interventional and implementation research, aiming to make an impact on the health and wellbeing of humankind through changes in practice. She fosters close collaborative relationships with NGOs and charitable foundations, driving her research programs forward through continuous funding by competitive grants.
In 2010, she established the Health and Cognitive Assessment Service at PolyU to advance scholarship in practice. In 2012, she led her team to found the Centre for Gerontological Nursing (CGN) at PolyU. CGN is now an integral part of the Area of Excellence: Health Ageing through Innovations at the School of Nursing to promote healthy ageing through innovations.
Her 243 publications included 128 SCI/SSCI indexed papers, 47 refereed non-SCI/SSCI indexed papers, 13 referred books and book chapters, 16 non-refereed books and book chapters, and 39 other non-refereed publications or reports.

Jeongha Kim
Jeongha Kim is a Ph.D. student majoring in Nursing Informatics at Seoul National University in South Korea. Her research focuses on applying user-centered design principles and AI-driven approaches to address health disparities. She has participated in research evaluating the validity of nursing statements algorithmically generated based on the ICNP using LLMs.

Fumie Matsuno
Fumie Matsuno is a Ph.D. student majoring in Adult Health Nursing at Shiga University of Medical Science in Japan. She is interested in prevention of chronic diseases and health education. She has started her research examining the relationship between urinary Na/K ratio and CVD risk factors (especially hypertension) as well as other lifestyle habits.

YEE Bit Lian
Yee Bit-Lian is a Ph.D. student at the International Medical University in Malaysia. Her research focuses on nurses’ resilience, using a mixed-method approach that incorporates a modified Delphi technique. She recently completed a study under the Medical Research and Ethics Committee, Ministry of Health Malaysia (NMRR ID-23-00976-MDM), titled “Balancing the Beeps: Navigating Stress, Teamwork, and Alarm Fatigue among Nurses.”

Jinyan Wu
Jinyan Wu is a Ph.D. student at the University of Tokyo in Japan. Her research focuses on the development and evaluation of VR-based dementia education programs for healthcare professionals. She is also involved in evaluating healthcare policies related to incentive systems for dementia care in acute care hospitals.

Suhan Lee
Suhan Lee is a Ph.D. student majoring in Community Health Nursing at Seoul National University in South Korea. Her research focuses on the relationship between frailty and healthcare utilization among community-dwelling older adults, with an emphasis on nursing interventions to address these issues.

Lily Ho
Lily Ho is a Ph.D. student at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Her area of expertise is in gerontological care and her major achievements include contributions to advance existing healthcare and the development of a programme for older people to manage post-stroke fatigue in the community.

Julianne Ballard
Julianne Ballard is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of California in the USA and a public health nurse with experience in program and policy development across the lifespan. Her research focuses on interventions delivered by public health nurses to address adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) among families experiencing social vulnerabilities.

Gracie Meng-Cin Tsai
Meng-Chin Gracie Tsai is a Ph.D. student at National Taiwan University. She specializes in depressive disorders, focusing on caregivers’ experiences and care needs in community care settings. She is currently developing interventions to improve depression literacy among caregivers.
Individual Level

Dajeong Kum
Dajeong Kum is a Ph.D. candidate in Pediatric Nursing at Seoul National University in South Korea. Her research interests include self-care and quality of life in children with chronic illnesses. She has been conducting an intervention study to promote self-care in children with atopic dermatitis.

Kristina Wechsler
Kristina Wechsler is an RN with a Master’s in Aging, a certified Gerontologist, and a Ph.D. student in the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation at Arizona State University in the USA. Her research interests include the prevention and mitigation of cognitive decline, reducing social isolation, and improving the health and well-being of caregivers.

Vicky Yuan
Vicky Yuan is a Ph.D. candidate at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Deakin University in Australia. Her research interests are in improving patient care and promoting patient safety. Her Ph.D. research focuses on integrating patient portals into chronic care, aiming to enhance patient experiences and achieve better outcomes.

Anderson Tao
Anderson Tao is a Ph.D. student at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research centers on frailty management in older adults, and he has authored 10 peer-reviewed publications on related assessments, reviews, and interventions to support healthy aging in older adults with frailty.
